Mariacristina Cavecchi

 

Mariacristina Cavecchi teaches History of English Theatre at the University of Milan. She specializes in contemporary and Elizabethan theatre. In this last field her studies focused on the reinterpretations of Shakespeare’s works and on the adaptations for cinema and theatre of the last forty years. Aside from the monograph Shakespeare Mostro Contemporaneo (1998) and numerous essays, she co-curated the volumes Shakespeare Graffiti: Il Cigno di Avon nella cultura di massa (2002), EuroSHAKESPEARES (2002) and Shakespeare & Scespir (2005). She is currently studying the dissemination of Shakespearean quotes and images in street art. Among her other publications: Cerchi e cicli. Sulle forme della memoria in Ulisse (2012). She is co-author of Percorsi nel teatro inglese dell’Ottocento e del primo Novecento (2012; with S. Soncini) and co-curator of Caryl Churchill. Un teatro necessario (2012; with M. Rose).
